Michael is a 43 year old Male of Australian heritage. Michael has a great sense of humour and loves a practical joke! Although he is non-verbal, he listens attentively and demonstrates a quick, sharp mind. Michael communicates effectively by nodding for “yes” and shaking his head for “no”.

Preferences

Michael is very family orientated and has twin daughters that he absolutely adores. He enjoys going to the pub, seeing live music and going to the beach. Michael likes graffiti art and is a passionate Collingwood supporter.

Michael dislikes when people do not respect his wishes. Loud noises and bright lights can be overwhelming for Michael and may lead to sensory overload.

Living goals

Michael would like to develop further independence and get out in the community more. He would like to spend more time with his family and friends.

Flatmate preferences

Michael would prefer to share with male co-resident.

Home living environment 

Activities

At home, Michael enjoys watching television, particularly movies that feature pranks and practical jokes, which align well with his sense of humour. He is also highly skilled at card games. Michael is the UNO ‘King’ and enjoys playing with his daughters and his carers.

Michael looks forward to visits from his family and especially values the time he spends with his twin daughters.

Household routine 

Michael is generally an early riser, though he occasionally enjoys a sleep-in. He accesses the community 3 to 4 days a week, typically between 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. During this time, he enjoys shopping, visiting cafés, and going out for lunch.

Michael’s twin daughter’s visit after school for a couple of hours each day and one day over the weekend.

When at home, Michael’s routine usually includes getting ready for the day and relaxing in front of the TV. In the evenings, he gradually winds down and is usually ready for bed around 10:00 p.m.

Things you need to know

You must be aged 18 years or over.

This will be an enrolled Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) property. You will need to be eligible for the appropriate SDA level of funding in your NDIS plan when it is time to move in.

You need to be able to pay a Reasonable Rent Contribution (RRC) + Commonwealth Rent Assistance (CRA) + Utilities (bills).

You will need to enter into an SDA Residency Agreement.
